Getting close – the itinerary is set

Okay, it’s finally narrowed down.  And by that, I mean I’ve written everything down, which doesn’t mean that it might not change at the last minute.  I like to be prepared but I also like flexibility when traveling.  Anyway, here’s the plan :

  • Day 1:  I arrive in Prague.  We are staying at Castle Steps, a well-reviewed hotel near the St. Charles Bridge
  • Day 2:  Pat arrives in Prague
  • Day 3:  Sightseeing
  • Day 4:  Leave Prague, take bus to Cesky Krumlov.  Staying at Pension Anna.
  • Day 5:  Leave CK, take shuttle to Linz, then train to Munich.  Staying at Hotel Uhland.
  • Day 6:  Sightseeing in Munich
  • Day 7:  Pick up rental car, head for Rothenburg ob der Tauber.  Staying at Gastehaus Raidel.
  • Day 8:  Leave Rothenburg, head down towards Füssen.  See Neuschwanstein and Hochschwangau castles.  Possibly spend the night in Mittenwald.
  • Day 9:  Stay in Alps region – possibly head for the Salzkammergut Lake District of Austria.
  • Day 10: Head back to Munich.  Turn in rental car.  Last night at Hotel Eder, near train station.
  • Day 11:  Pat leaves Munich, heads back home.  I leave for Vienna!  Staying at Pension Nossek.
  • Day 12: Vienna
  • Day 13: Vienna
  • Day 14: Vienna (possibly day trip to Durnstein and/or Melk – Danube cruise?)
  • Day 15: Leave Vienna, bus or train back to Prague.  Staying ???
  • Day 16: Head for home.
